Optimization of Inventory Management to Prevent Drug Shortages in the Hospital Supply Chain

Drug shortage is always a critical issue of inventory management in healthcare systems since it potentially invokes several negative impacts. In supply chain management, optimization goes hand-in-hand with control to address issues the supply, and use drugs. To avoid problem hospital, efficient required operate system sustainable way maximize profit organization Hospital Supply Chain (HSC). this work, we study drug refilling problem, general model for hospital. We then investigate Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) under an online solution that can automatically make decision order prevent shortage. further present numerical result verify performance proposed algorithm, which outperforms baselines (e.g., over-provisioning, ski-rental, max-min) terms cost rate.
